Job title: VP, Patient Advocacy & Professional Relations
Emily is the Vice President of Patient Advocacy and Government Affairs at AveXis. Emily has been at AveXis for the past 3 years where she has focused her efforts on ensuring the patient voice is at the center of the organization from clinical trial planning, understanding unmet needs to inform educational efforts and co-creating materials to support commercialization of AveXis’ gene therapy for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In addition, Emily has collaborated with advocacy partners to support newborn screening efforts for SMA. Emily has worked in many roles in the biotechnology industry over 17 years, including specialty sales, product launches in rare diseases, leading medical affairs efforts, and patient advocacy. Emily holds a master’s degree in Public Health from University of Illinois at Chicago.
